The second release of our Single Vineyard Nebbiolo.
Our Nebbiolo block is a new section of vineyard established in 2017, and has been organic from the ground up. It was officially certified organic in September 2021 and from the 2022 vintage this will be reflected on the label. Picked in April, it was harvested 7 weeks after the shiraz. This extended ripening well into autumn means the wine has ample time for flavour and tannin ripeness, without the stress of the at-times extreme heat of a Heathcote summer.
The 2023 season was the third in a string of La Nina’s, typically bringing wet and cold springs and cloudy and cooler conditions in summer. This provided a fine and extended season for the Nebbiolo to ripen and in fact it was picked on the 5th of April, 5 days earlier than the inaugural 21 vintage.
