2010 Yabby Lake Single Vineyard Pinot Noir

The site, the fruit
The 2010 Pinot Noir is a blend of three clones - MV6 clone, G5V15 115 clone - hand selected from four separate vineyard blocks on the property (see table below for breakdowns). This wine reflects our philosophy at Yabby Lake - to make wines that reflect the spirit of the season and vineyard.
The Craft
The fruit was handpicked and destemmed into traditional open fermenters for a 3-4 day cold soaking, some whole bunches. The fermentation was hand plunged up to three times per day depending on extraction levels. The temperature of the fermentation peaked at 32°C (Celsius) after which the wine was pressed after 10 days into French oak for malolactic fermentation and ageing (with a significant proportion of 500L puncheons used). The wine was bottled in February 2011.
The Result
The 2010 Yabby Lake Pinot Noir has an intense and complex aroma with great depth of character. Bursting with red and dark fruits, the wine is fine and complex with a long, juicy palate. There is excellent persistence on the polished finish.
